I know it seems like vacation is a year away, but it is sooner than you think. Here are 5 things you should do this week:
- Download the To-Do List from the website. The list spells out the things you should do and when. Click anywhere on the list and a menu bar will appear giving you the option to download it. You can find the list under “Travel Tips & Tools.”
- To have a stress-free vacation and time leading up to it, develop a budget. The budget will make sure that you are financially prepared to enjoy the things you want to do while in St. Croix. An interactive budget template is under “Travel Tips & Tools.” Click the link to Vertex42.com, the author of the template for a downloadable copy.
- If your plans are to rent a vacation house/villa, you definitely need to reserve it now. Hotels and condos are a little easier to get, but I wouldn’t wait too long before reserving them either. Decide who will be your housemates (if any), get together with them, and decide when you’ll be ready to book.
- Most houses/villas require a deposit when you book to take it off the rental market. The amounts vary, so check with the owner or property manager as soon as possible.
- Confirm availability for July 7-14, 2018 with the owner/property manager and make your reservations. I recommend reaching out to the owner/property manager directly and not booking online through VRBO.com, HouseAway.com or any other online site. I was able to save over $300 in service fees by dealing directly with the property manager.
